WHAT THE FUN?

Fun Lovers Unite! an Evening of Music, Comedy, and Gunsense will benefit Women Against Gun Violence, a fearless
organization in the fight to end gun violence for twenty-five years, offering educational community programs
and helping to pass some of the nation's toughest gun laws.

Performers on the bill will be donating their time to this life-saving cause and proud to stand with other fellow comedians and musicians in solidarity to raise awareness for common sense gun violence prevention efforts and the elected officials who stand up for the safety of our communities.

WHO THE FUN?

The event is being produced by friends Joshua Mills in Los Angeles and Maccabee Montandon in Brooklyn, who are both dads of young children, and who wanted to do something about the epidemic of gun violence in America. Josh felt sickened and then galvanized following the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in 2012. Mac’s brother, Asher, was murdered with a gun during an attempted robbery in Los Angeles in 1992.

Fun Lovers Unite NYC is just one example of the grassroots momentum across this country calling for gun sense.

WHY THE FUN?

Fun Lovers Unite! is the third live music and comedy event dedicated to raising awareness and action for common-sense gun violence prevention efforts and the elected officials who stand up for the safety of our communities. The first event in Los Angeles featured Kurt Braunohler, Neil Hamburger, Tim Heidecker, Jenny Lewis, Sarah Silverman, Mike Watt & The Secondmen and many more.

Music and comedy are powerful ways to reach people-we are so grateful to the performers who will use their talents to bring people together, offer great entertainment and a ton of belly laughs, educate them on the problem of gun violence, and ask them to take action to save lives. Gun violence is often a hard issue to talk about –this event is a way to let people know we are all human, we can have fun while also trying to raise awareness for a serious issue.

Women Against Gun Violence was founded in 1993 by feminist author Betty Friedan and Los Angeles Police Commissioner Ann Reiss Lane. For twenty-five years, WAGV has stood up to the gun lobby, fearless in the fight, and has helped to pass some of the nation's toughest gun laws. In addition, WAGV offers free educational summits and workshops in California to educate the public about guns, teaching them how to prevent gun violence in their homes and communities.
